Cantine Divine is at the forefront of a winemaking revolution that has swept the historic Campania wine region in a fresh new direction.Cantine divine was owned by the Montemartiniziano family until the early 1900s, in 1991 it was taken over by a small group of associates who, with a great passion, founded the current agricultural company.Cantine Divine has aggressively tapped into enormous potential of Campania's unique terroir and ancient varietals by placing a thoroughly modern spin on indigenous grapes such as Greco di Tufo and Taurasi.
Cantine Divine obtains its grapes from the finest vineyard located in close proximity to Vesuvius. Mount Vesuvius, on the west coast of Italy, is the only active volcano on mainland Europe. It is best known because of the eruption in A.D. 79 that destroyed the city of Pompeii. Within 25 hours, Vesuvius wiped out the entire town. Hundreds of years later, archaeologists excavated Pompeii and found everything and everyone that had been there that day perfectly preserved by the volcanos.Mount Vesuvius is considered to be one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world due to the large population of the city of Naples and the surrounding towns on the slopes nearby. In vino veritas, "there is truth in wine" is the often-quoted saying from the writings of Pliny the Elder, a Roman writer who was killed while observing the cataclysmic eruption of the Vesuvius nearly 2000 years ago.
